Malawi army ready to deal with peace breakers – General Supuni
The Malawi Defense Force (MDF) has declared that it is ready to deal with any person or group of people that will cause any form of conflict in the country.

MDF Commander, General Griffin Supuni Phiri made the declaration Monday in Mzuzu when President Arthur Peter Mutharika visited Moyale Barracks.
“As MDF, we are very ready to deal with anyone daring to disturb peace in the country including those who deliberately incite violence in the name of politics.
“We are also ready to work together with other law enforcers to deal with thieves and even those who are doing harm to wildlife and our natural reserves,” he said in an interview with journalists on the sidelines of Mutharika’s visit.
He applauded government for its commitment towards the welfare of soldiers in the country.
General Supuni Phiri said construction of decent houses for the officers and purchase of new vehicles for the force would ease the challenges they encounter in their operations.
“With the help from government, we have purchased 33 vehicles, nine of which are already in the country.
“You will never see army officers operating with old TATAs anymore because the new vehicles will replace the old ones,” he said.
Deputy Minister of Defense, Everton Chimulilenji commended the MDF for providing security in the country.
“As a country, we ought to commend our soldiers for the good work they are doing both at national and international levels.
“We involve our soldiers in a lot of activities such as wildlife protection, emergency relief services and roads construction projects among other national and international duties,” he said.
The minister then encouraged the soldiers to continue working with commitment and passion for the benefit of the nation.

Thanks for doing away with TATAs. Servicemen the world over need reliable, ever faithful and ubiquitous trucks that are most popular passenger transport. Hopefully, the new trucks will rival Bedford TKs, MKs, MJs and TMs that were durable, easy to maintain and they gave less trouble in terms of not having frequent breakdowns. They withstood very much the heavy wear and tear caused by the pot–holed dirt tracks and the few stretches of tarred motor ways. How about the legendary Unimog with portal axles … it goes anywhere and can still be maintained by a regular human being.
The army commander here is clearly and literally trying to intimidate the opposition. It’s totally unacceptable for MDF to be used by the ruling DPP to silence opposing views. Which peace breakers are you talking about? Do we have peace breakers in Malawi? On the contrary what we have currently are Promises Breakers masquerading as Governance Proxy in the name of DPP. Anyway the good thing is that DPP’s days at the helm of government are numbered and no one can stop this civilized revolution even at the point of a gun. Malawians are no longer sleepy, their eyes are wide open and will not blink an inch. By the way, is it not the same institution of MDF which is allegedly embroiled in various fraud cases including the alleged dubious purchase of vehicles that one of the prominent ministers is also allegedly connected? Are you trying to shield the.’THIEVES’? Unfortunately your warning has hit a hard wall of ears as time has already run out. Internal peace/security is in the hands of Malawi Police Service as enacted by the laws of Malawi and not MDF which rarely can only come in where MPS has failed to contain the situation. Please do your rightful job in a proper manner so that we can all vote wisely in May 2019 without any form of intimidation.
Bull****, go and fight for lake….not internally
Army to deal with internal affairs? This is dangerous. Where is the police? The police are the ones mandated by act of parliament to deal with issues of people tampering on peace internally. The thing Is, the army might use disproportionate force in dealing with fellow Malawians. Let the army fight with the Taifas to protect the lake and not someone with dissenting views
Does it mean that the whole Army is operating with 33 vehicles only? You are saying no more old Tatas which means the 33 vehicles will replace the old Tatas in my understanding.
Men in uniform. Never be used to crack down on opposition to Government. We are all Malawians. We are suffering together under this DPP Government. Please get some advice from the Zimbabwe Army Commander. Lets save our country from these DPP bastards.
