Malawi Catholics urged to promote unity in church -ECM

Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) secretary General Fr. George Buleya has said that time has come for the Catholic Church in Malawi to have a common way of doing things in order to promote unity in the Catholic Church.

Fr. Buleya said this on Thursday after opening a two day workshop for validating ECM strategic framework which is taking place at Msamba Pastoral Centre in Lilongwe Archdiocese.

Buleya has also urged the participants coming from all the eight dioceses in Malawi that they have to put heads together in order to strategies for the better future of the Catholic Church in Malawi.

He then asked the members to be open to new ideas that would promote and reflect the church as it is today by not being defensive to what they are used to but accept new ways of doing things.

The Chairman for the Technical Working Group Carstens Mulume, who is also National CADECOM Secretary, said that the validation exercise which has taken two years to be concluded has been done with the assistance of Mavunganya Gomeza Chirwa, an expert in management and functional review.

Vicar Generals, CCJP Secretaries, Health Secretaries, Education Secretaries, CADECOM Secretaries, Communication Secretaries, Pastoral Secretaries from all the eight dioceses in Malawi are among the participants for the workshop.
