Malawian man jailed 13 years for sodomy: Threatens Magistrate, witnesses
A convict, whom a First Grade Magistrate Court in Mzuzu slapped with a 13 year jail term for sodomizing a 13 year old boy at the Mzuzu Bus Depot in August 2013, has threatened to deal with presiding magistrate and witnesses on completion of his sentence.
The Court on Wednesday convicted and sentenced 32 year old man Lameck Nkhambule for sodomizing the boy three times.
Magistrate Anthony Banda observed that the act by the convict was inhumane and torturous to the victim (name withheld) hence deterrent sentence.
The Court heard that Nkhambule convinced the victim, a street child, to follow him to the Bus Depot, where he forcibly undressed him and forced his manhood on his anus after smearing it with Vaseline for smooth penetration and ease of pain.
The convict forced the victim for 3 consecutive nights.
Nevertheless, the victim fell sick prompting his guardians to seek for medical attention where a medical examination revealed that he was a victim of sodomy.
The victim then narrated the whole ordeals which lead to the arrest of the convict.
He was charged with Sodomy contrary to section 153 (a) of the Penal Code. The offence attracts a maximum sentence of 14 years imprisonment with hard labour.
Police Prosecutor Sergeant Lyson Kachikondo asked the court for a deterrent sentence arguing that the victim is mentally and physically affected.
He observed that the victim’s trauma will be life-long.
The convict hails from Mtete village, Traditional Authority Mtwalo in Mzimba District.
