Malawi Chief Elections Officer dies after collapsing at work

Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec) acting Chief Elections Officer, Thandie Mkovole has died after she collapsed at work this afternoon, it has been confirmed.

Mkovole who has been acting as elections officer following the suspension and subsequent dismissal of Willie Kalonga over funds embezzlement allegations, collapsed in her office at Mec Head Office (Chisankho House) in Blantyre at around 3pm today (Wednesday June 7th).

Mec’s Director of Media and Public Relations, Sangwani Mwafulirwa described Mkovole’s death as a big loss to the electoral body.

“It is with deep sadness I confirm that   acting Chief Elections Officer, Thandie Mkovole sadly passed away earlier today after collapsing at work ,” said Mwafulirwa.

“She came to work today, and everything was normal until at around 3pm when she collapsed,” explained Mwafulirwa.

Mwafulirwa said she was rushed to Mwaiwathu Private Hospital which is nearby the Chisankho House, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

“She was hardworking woman. She managed to handle different managerial position with professionalism. We will miss her passion and dedication to work,” added Mwafulirwa.

    There is no old MCP since the party never transformed into anything new. The same old Red shirted youth leaguers aged 90 are there. The only regional party with dominance in the Nyau belt. Still the MCP that will never rule Malawi again. Don’t be cheated Malawians,, the MCP killers will never change.

      @ Hatton, You’re not God to declare that MCP will never come back to power, the leaders who are in DPP are the ones who were killing people when they were in MCP and they haven’t stopped the killing. Who killed Njauju, Mbendera, Chasowa, is it MCP? 20 people were killed during demonstration, was it MCP? DPP is also killing people daily in hospitals as there are no drugs, kuba alomwe, munthu opanda nzeru iwe
