Malawi ex-VP Kachali, MP Mkandawire accused of making false campaign promise

Former vice president Khumbo Kachali and Mzimba West MP Harry Mkandawire have been accused of making false campaign promise in Mzuzu when their joint project stands uncompleted two years down the line.

Kachali and Mkandawire promised to construct a juvenile cell at Mzuzu Prison but the construction work is just half way through.

The promise was made in the presence of former president Joyce Banda when Kachali was veep and Mkandawire was Peoples Party regional governor for the norrh.

Kachali in an interview pushed the blame on Mkandawire, saying the Mzimba West legislator did not contribute to the project.

“I have done my part, most of the building has been constructed because of me,” he said.

Mkandawire sounded surprised, saying he had contributed a lot and thought the project had been completed.

“Maybe some people embezzled the money,” he said.

Mzuzu prison official Macdonald Mwansambo said the juvenile cell was meant to reduce congestion at the prison.

I remember during the PP’s two years or so in power, Kachali joined hands with JB to have a certain percentage of the salaries cut to contribute to a certain cause. However when Kachali was later not chosen as a running mate to JB, he demanded his percentage of the salary back!!!! What a shame!

That simply shows how foolish Malawians are, we have people like them in parliament almost 65% but we can not take them into task and come May 2019 you will see Malawians voting for them and at the end of the day it is my country Malawi that suffers as it comes as the poorest country in the world and not Malawians, shame.
