Malawi fashion designer Lilly Alfonso launches online shop

Malawi’s top fashion designer, Lilly Alfonso has taken her brand to another level with the opening of an online shop as she plans to expand further her footprint across the globe.

“With the store, I am not only targeting Malawians, but the international market as well; hence, people will be able to buy using bank cards like Visa Debit, Master Card as well as Paypal,” said Alfonso, 35.

“For the locals, they can currently buy using Airtel Money as negotiations with other service providers are still underway,” said tthe award-winning designer who liked playing with fabrics at the age of six.

Lilly said she has opened her online shop with categories such as the LA Mann and LA Womann “to move with the latest trends.”

The fashion designer recently opened a 28-manned factory in Lilongwe, where all the tailoring is done. So far, 35 people, including Alfonso, are employed under the LA brand.

Lilly who has two daughters, recommends parents to support their children’s creativity and encourage them to pursue that alongside school.
