Malawi First Lady celebrates birthday

First Lady Gertrude Mutharika is today, February 7 celebrating her birthday at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe.

In the morning she accompanied her husband at Kamuzu Barracks in Lilongwe for special prayers amid speculation State House organised the interdenomination prayers as part of the First Lady’s commemoration of her birthday.

State House did not release details of how the Mrs Mutharika will celebrate her birthday in the afternoon or evening.

During the prayers, President Peter Mutharika asked Malawi Defense Force soldiers to put God first in whatever they do.

This is the third birthday commemoration for her to celebrated with President Mutharika and at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe.
