Malawi govt free 6000 children from child labour
Government says it has successfully freed 6000 children from child labour in Mzimba and Kasungu though there are fears 80000 more are stuck across the country.

Ministry of Labour spokesperson Symon Mbvundula said the released children are now undergoing various skills training whilst others were sent back to school.
“We have embarked on this programme of freeing children from child labour with funding from the International Labour Organisation,” he said.
He said the programme was initiated after a 2002 survey that should 1.4 million were stuck in child labour across the country.
He said most of the children are in commercial agriculture working mainly in tobacco estates.
Mbvundula said the government will not sit back but ensure that there are no children in child labour where he said they are likely to face exploitation than adults.
