Malawi govt says Central Medical Stores Trust lying on arrears

Government has rejected claims by Central Medical Stores Trust (CMST) that it owes the trust K7 billion, saying treasury paid all arrears to CMST and other organizations long ago.

Msowoya: Government paid all
Msowoya: Government paid all

The statement by Nations Msowoya, spokesperson for treasury sharply contradicts that of minister of Health Peter Kumpalume who acknowledged the government owes CMST huge sums of money in arrears.

Msowoya said the government has cleared all the K150 billion in arrears it owned both to government and private sector.

“We do not own arrears to anybody,” said Msowoya.

CMST director general Kaufa said the ministry of Health owes the CMST in K7 billion.

Msowoya said the government had cleared the K150 billion in arrears since 2011.

Health minister Kumpalume said the government would look into the matter seriously.

Is central medical stores not Govt? Please educate me.

Confusion within the govt but what do you expect from this govt? So central stores and the health minister are lying and want to be paid twice. Another cashgate? Dpp ingenious ways of raising funds.

So the private sector has already been paid, then why were they complaining only recently that the govt still has massive amounts of money owed to private sector?

Private sector please tell us the truth. Had the govt now paid you in full?

Someone including government if paid 7 billion kwavha they would have received a receipt from the bank for payment,

Why the argument,

Oh maybe another DPP cashgate in 2011 when the current government days the outstanding amount was paid
