Malawi hockey team in early preps for African Cup for Nations
About 30 players of Malawi team are expected to go into training camp and start preparations for next year’s African Cup for Nations Hockey championship.

The team will however first participate at the Presidents Cup scheduled to take place in Arusha, Tanzania in February, 2017.
Malawi Hockey Team Coach Godfrey Biya says early preparations will give him ample time to build a strong team that will fully compete at international tournaments since the players will be able to coordinate well.
“We want to make sure that our players play together for a long time to ensue there is a good coordination” said Biya.
He further revealed that for the whole month of November, the coach will focus on building and improving the fitness of players before switching to other tactical things.
Biya said the most disciplined players and those who are ready to play and die for their nation will fly to Tanzania on 10th February 2017 to participate at the Presidents’ Cup in Tanzania before participating at the African Cup for Nations Hockey Tournament.
According to Biya, Malawi team will be working on getting results at both competitions.
This will be the first time for Malawi national hockey team to participate at an international tournament after close to two decades.
