Death has taken place of one of the country’s senior journalist, Anthony Livuza, who until his death was Principal Secretary in the ministry of information and civic education.
He died on Sunday due to heart problems at a Hospital in Blantyre.
Minister of Information, Moses Kunkuyu said Livuza’s ” haste departure has left a gap too wide and not easy to fill.”
Livuza was in his 40s started out as reporter with the Malawi News Agency and later edited the defunct government magazine ‘This is Malawi.’
He went to Harare Polytechnic to study journalism and did his masters with a British college.
Livuza rose to become Chief Information Officer and served as Persna Assistant to Speaker of Parliament then to Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Information, becoming the youngest professional to hold this portfolio during the Bakili Muluzi era.
He was PS for the ministries of Education, Foreign Affairs and Energy before he moved back to Information from where he held the same position.
Livuza hailed from, Namputu village, Traditional Authority Chikumbu in Mulanje district.
He will be buried in Mulanje on Wednesday.
Livuza is survived by a wife and three children.
