Malawi Insurance Institute donates to Mangochi district health office

The Insurance Institute of Malawi (IIM), the training arm of the insurance industry, has  donated medical supplies worth K500, 000 to Mangochi district health office.

The donation took place on the sidelines of this year’s IIM Annual Lakeshore Conference, which was held from Thursday 17 August to Saturday 19August.

IIM president, Immaculate Singano, said the gesture was part of the institute’s corporate social responsibility.

“We hold our conferences in Mangochi every year and we thought it wise to donate to health centres in the district and give back to the community,” she said.

The medical supplies include nebulisers, thermometers and blood pressure machines.

Receiving the supplies, Mangochi district health officer, Dr. Henry Chibowa, thanked IIM for the donation.

“We are grateful for these items. We are in short supply of these items and we really needed them to provide better quality services,” he stated.

Chibowadisclosed that the items will be distributed to three health centres in the district.

This year’s IIM Conference was held under the theme “Business Unusual” and attracted a galaxy of local and international speakers.The Governor of the Reserve Bank of Malawi, Dr. DalitsoKabambe, presented a keynote address.
