Malawi miss top prize in Africa’s biggest reality show
Malawian finalist in the Africa’s biggest reality show, styled Big Brother Amplified, Lomwe (Tendai Namate) on Sunday missed out the top prize in the finals when Karen from Nigeria and Wendell from Zimbabwe emerged the winners walking away with US$ 200,000 each.
Lomwe was one of the favourites to win the first prizes. Despite losing out, he will however receive a consolation prize of K1. 5 million.
Karen, a 27-year-old model from Nigeria, won the votes in the highest number of countries – Nigeria, Ghana, Angola, Mozambique, Tanzania and the rest of Africa (African countries that did not have participants in the show).
On the other hand, Wendell a 23-year-old commercial pilot from Zimbabwe won in four African countries – Kenya, Zambia, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
The show, lasted 91 days and featured 26 contestants normalled called ‘housemates’, all from Africa.
The contestants were sequestered in a house and their every movement monitored 24 hours through many cameras installed in the house.
Malawi has sent two representatives, the other one Felicia Ngoma had been evicted earlier in the show.
