Malawi names squad for Uganda test ahead of Ghana AFCON tie

Malawi national team coach Kinnah Phiri has released a 27-man squad to go into camp next week in readiness of an international friendly match against .

The match will be played on August 15 in Blantyre as the Flames  prepare for their 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ghana due in  Accra early September. While Uganda will be heading to Lusaka for a tie with African champions, Zamba..

In the squad, there are some new faces like Bvumbwe Research and the current TNM Super League top scorer, Vincent Chinthenga, Big Bullets rejuvenated left back Douglas ‘Section 65’ Chirambo, who switched from his usual position as a midfielder.

Gabadini Mhango: Earns call up

Civo United workhorse, Patrick Gunde has also been picked alongside Blue Eagles Patrick Masanjala.

Some of the notable names in the squad are Big Bullets George Nyirenda, Chimango Kayira, and the slippery striker, Gabadihno Mhango, Mighty Wanderers Joseph ‘Shakira’ Kamwendo, Foster ‘Zagaf’ Namwera, Francis Mlimbika, Richard Chipuwa and Bongani Kaipa.

From Silver Strikers, players like Ndaziona ‘six million’ Chatsalira, Peter ‘Pido’ Pindani, Mustafa Salimu, Green Harawa and Frank Banda has also made it into the squad with John ‘Kintu’ Lanjesi, Pililani Makupe from Civo United.

However, missing on the list is Blue Eagles hit-man John Banda, who is nursing an injury.
He will be out of action for a period of eight weeks, as he is in Plaster of Paris.
