Malawi paired with Zimbabwe in Cosafa Cup draw

Malawi national soccer team will face Zimbabwe in the quarterfinals of the 2013 edition of the Council for Southern Africa Football Association (COSAFA) to be played between 6th and 21st July.

This has been confirmed following a draw COSAFA held on Friday night at the Southern Sun Ridgeway Hotel in Lusaka, Zambia.

Host country Zambia will play Mozambique while South Africa and Angola will face winners of group A and B respectively.

Group phase matches will be played between 6th to 11th July.

Group A include Tanzania, Namibia, Seychelles and Mauritius while Group B comprises of Kenya, Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland.

Malawi, Angola, Zambia, South Africa and Mozambique were given a bye into the knockout round.

Meanwhile, Malawi’s Flames is expected to start camping in readiness for the World Cup qualifying games against Namibia and Kenya next month.

Coincidentally, the Football Association of Malawi has already lined up a friendly match against Zimbabwe on May 25th as part of world cup qualifying games preparations.
