Two Malawian players who play for former Super League club champions Silver Strikers left the country on Tuesday to Mozambique where they are expected to undergo a one month long trials.
Silver General Secretary Mike Tembo confirmed the departure of the two regular’s striker Chawanangwa Kawonga and defender Lameck Kachimanga.
“I can confirm that Chawanangwa has left for Mozambique where he is expected to undergo a month long training. He has gone together with Lameck Kachimanga” said Tembo on Wednesday.
Tembo said there are a number of teams who are chasing the signature of Kawonga but the club has opted to release them and be tried by the first team that showed interest in the player.
He said the club the players have gone to is sponsored by a Gas Manufacturing Company.
Kawonga has been one of the major targets for Malawi’s 2015 Caf Club Competition representatives Bullets F.C but his club has maintained he cannot be sold to a local club.
Meanwhile, with a day to go before the closing of extra players’ registration in the Caf Competition, Bullets F.C General Secretary Harold Forte remains optimistic that they can catch the signature of Kawonga and other targeted players.
He said modern technology can be used to carry out the process despite the player being out of the country.
