Malawi police arrest Gulewankulu for sexually assaulting initiates

Police in Malawi’s Central district of Ntchisi have arrested four remembers of  Gulewamkulu cult for sexually molesting four boys aging between 12 and 15 who went to Dambwe camp for initiation .

Ntchisi Police spokesperson Gladson M’bumpha says the suspects include two minors of 16 and 17 years old, while others are Chipiliro Yolamu and Vincent Kafakale both aged 21.

“Upon reaching to the initiation camps the four suspects who wore masks inserted their private parts into the young boys’ mouths forcing them to swallow their[suspects’] release [or sperms] which the young boys accepted for fear of being beaten up,” M’bumpha says.

The victims also told the police that when they tried to spit out, the suspects forced them to swallow the sperms threatening to whip with a hot iron rod.

All the four victims later escaped from the camp and reported the matter to parents of one of the victims who reported the matter to police.

“The police received reports on the issue on Sunday and launched investgations which led to the arrest of the suspects on Monday” says M’bumpha.

He says the suspects are expected to appear in court where they will answer sodomy charges contrary to Section 156 of the Penal Code and if found guilty they face a jail term of up to 14 years.
