Malawi Police arrest ‘hardcore’ criminals: Mvula, Gombwa

Malawi Police in Blantyre have arrested two hardcore criminals who have since confessed to have killed three people and stolen four motor vehicles.

Southern region police through its Anti-Motor Theft branch have arrested Chipiliro Gombwa and Dumisani Mvula- son to politician Humphreys Mvula.

The law-enforcers have since recovered Parabellum pistol with 212 live ammunitions.

Gombwa and Mvula, according to police,c onfessed to have stolen four vehicles and committed three murder cases.

In the first case, the two revealed to have stolen Mazda Bongo and killed the in the process.

In the second case, Gombwa and Mvula confessed to have stolen Toyota Hirux (double cabin) that belonged to Malawi Telecommunications Limited (MTL).

They even confessed to have killed the driver, Geoffrey Msichi- who was an ex-policeman.

According to police, the two also happen to be the ones who murdered Mahommed Makadamu, a businessman in Limbe town but dumped the body and the vehicle at Kanjedza residences.

In the fourth case, the two are said to have stolen a Toyota Prado, which happened to be a Minister ‘s vehicle.

  1. If there were any such Confessions we would have heard that they’ve been committed for a trial but they have not even been formally charged. It’s time we have journalists who are responsible, well informed and who honor the rights of people. Sensationalism has a high cost. I think this story is wanting has too many loopholes. Absolute callous irresponsible and rubbish journalism. This is not a platform to slander but should be used to inform the public accurate stories. For example where are the receipts that showcase these are hardcore criminals? Where are the statements? Where are their formal charges? Why do they have lawyers if they confessed? I mean be serious please. Perhaps it’s time Nyasatimes commits to properly trained journalists who have degrees, ethics and adhere to codes of conduct for journalists. Not internet gangsters who in malice want to incite public outrage over details that are inaccurate and language that is highly Sensationalised. Praying Malawians demand higher standards and imperical facts before they even conclude on a matter.

Please show us a rap sheet of the crimes they’ve committed prior to these bogus accusations by Nyasatimes yet no charges. I guess we are also going to ignore that their statements do not confess to any robbery murder and any kind of malice? You would really love to pin something on someone?   8. The sheer amount of rubbish in this story is unbelievable. The lengths Malawians will go to, to defame and slander people who seem “affluent” is unbelievable. 1. Dumisani did not confess to any murders or gun possession charges or even robberies.
    2. Check his statement, police didnot even find him in possession of ANYTHING the murderer has explicitly expressed never knowing or meeting a Dumisani until Tuesday afternoon
    3. Dumisani brokered a deal between Tsatsi, Keith and Chipiliro Gobwa the formed told him that the gun has papers therefore it is illegal all he did was make a phone call.
    4. Dumisani was originally charged with a misdemeanour of trying to sell an unlicensed fire arm.
    5.All statements have from the 6 accussed have confirmed he above facts.
    6. The police wenr on national television and pronounced guilty before a due court process without formal charges even brought forward. (politics this is illegal)
    7. The police told the magistrate they needed 2 weeks to get together facts and send to the dpp to see if this case is worth a trial. How does this happen when they are no formal ccharges that you report they have confessed? If they confessed why would the dpp need to review the case? It would be straight forward no? This is defamation of a 22 yr old man why would a properly educated journalist who is actually trained by an institution of higher learning fail to balance a story? If they confessed why are their statements not public? If they confessed are their lawyers not approached? If they confessed why are they not making pleas and being committed? If they confessed why are

  117. Gifted kids(intelligent kids) if not treated well while young may turn to be hardcore criminals when they grow up. That’s why most of these criminals are fairly good at thinking fast( good at mathematics). I guess that Dumisani Mvula can be a victim of born highly gifted, I hear Sam Mpasu has one as well.

    I have my son who is fairly gifted as well. He started speaking at 1 year. He could read some words at 1 year 10 months. At three he was already a genius that he had to skip reception class to standard one. I was advised by the headteachers at his school that he is supposed to skip every next class since that’s the only way to keep him suiting to that class. If you delay these type of kids,they don’t concentrate and end up doing other ways like crime.
