Malawi Police arrest jealous man for killing ex-wife’s hubby
Malawi Police in Lilongwe have arrested Gift Sitina (23) for allegedly stabbing to death ex-wife’s husband.
Kanengo Police Deputy Public Relations Officer (PRO) Sub-Inspector Esther Mkwanda identified the victim as Austin Chirombo aged 35 who hails from Kalulu Village in the Area of Traditional Authority Chimutu in Lilongwe.
According to Sub-Inspector Mkwanda, the incident happened on Thursday 7th December 2017 last week at Mchezi Trading Centre in Lilongwe.
Reports indicate that Sitina has been pleading for reconciliation with his former wife but his effort yielded no positive results.
Coincidentally, the divorved couple was staying on the same compound.
“This made the ex-husband jealousy that the relationship of the deceased and ex-wife got strained a situation that led to his act,” said Mkwanda.
This prompted Sitina to storm the deceased house with a knife and stabbed him in the stomach.
According to Police, the deceased was pronounced dead upon arrival at Daeyang Luke Hospital and postmoterm revealed that he died of hypovolemia (Loss of blood).
According to Sub-Inspector Mkwanda, the suspect will appear before court soon to answer murder charge.
