Malawi Police arrest man for gay sex assault on boy, 7: Charged with sodomy

Malawi Police in Zomba are keeping in custody a 32 year old man on allegation of sodomizing a 7 year old boy.

Michael Malinda was arrested on Saturday in the afternoon at Zomba bus depot where he met the victim.

According to Zomba Police Publicist, Sergeant Patricia Sipiliano, the suspect met the boy and coaxed him to have anal sex in exchange of K100 and the victim agreed to do it on one of the bus stands, right in the bus depot.

In the course of action, they were caught by the driver of the bus who later reported to Zomba Police Station which resulted to the arrest of Malinda.

Sipiliano said the police referred the matter to Zomba Central Hospital for medical examination which confirmed that the child was indeed sodomized.

She further said the police was still investigating on the matter to establish what prompted the suspect to commit such an offence since this is the first case to be registered in the district this year.

Meanwhile, police in the district is informing the general public to report any criminal cases to the nearest police.

Michael Malinda comes from Dzaone Village in Traditional Authority Chikowi in the district of Zomba.
