Malawi Police arrest ‘most wanted’ murder suspect Morris Simango

Lumbadzi police substation is keeping in custody 20 year old Kaliyofasi Morris Simango for murder and robbery.

According to Public Relations Officer for Kanengo police station, Salome Zgambo Chibwana, the murder occurred on 23 June 2017 in Lumbadzi but the body of the deceased was found in Zambia.

Chibwana explained that Peter Chiphika, 23 who hails from Ng’anjo village Traditional Authority Chakhaza, Dowa district and his driver, Stanly Alli, 32 from Chiwaya village, Traditional Authority Kapeni in Blantyre went missing after being hired by two unknown persons from Lumbadzi to Kasungu.

“Then it happened that one suspect Kaliyofasi Morris Simango Mwale 20 years from Mzelezele Traditional Authority Mlonyeni District in Mchinji was arrested with the vehicle Toyota carina registration number KU 3424 which went missing together with the driver,” explained Chibwana.

“Efforts were made to trace the driver for three days and the suspect led us to Chigoma village Chief Pemba Moyo in Zambia where we found the body in the forest in a decomposed state,” she explained.

Chibwana added that, postmortem results done at Kamuzu Central Hospital show that death was due to strangulation.

The suspect is still in custody waiting to appear before court to answer murder and robbery with violence charges while the deceased has been taken to his home village in Blantyre for burial.
