Malawi Police nab wife killer over ‘get rich quicker’ rituals
Malawi Police said it has arrested Kasiteni Mwale,36, who was said to have killed his wife, Malita Kapatamoyo aged 68.
Mwale is suspected of killing his wife in Kasungu during the night of 20-21 August, 2016 and has been on the run.
He killed his wife after she had allegedly rejected his demand of offering their child for rituals to get rich quickly.
After hacking his wife to death, Mwale also hacked the deceased’s grandmother in attempt to conceal evidence. The granny was referred to Kamuzu Central Hospital where she was admitted until on 22 August, 2016 when she passed away.
Edna Mzingwitsa, PRO for Kasungu Police Station said Mwale was arrested on Monday, 22 August, 2016 in Nkhotakota where he had fled after well wishers tipped the police.
Mwale is answering charges of murder and will appear before court soon when investigations are completed.
Kasiteni Mwale comes from Shimwaza village, Traditional Authority Chilowamatambe in Kasungu district.
