Malawi Police net murder suspect on albino child

Malawi Police in  eastern district of Machinga are holding an uncle to a slain nine year old boy with albinism whose body is still missing after his severed head was found wrapped in a piece of cloth in another village.

Police in Machinga confirmed the arrest of Elias Chatha, an uncle to murdered Henry Mokoshoni.

Machinga police officer Mdala said people tipped the law enforcers that Chatha might have had a hand in the killing of young Mokoshoni.

“Soon after we were tipped, we rushed to his home where we arrested him and he will answer murder charges,” said Mdala.

The arrest of Chatha comes barely days after ministry of Gender officials announced the appointment of a special prosecutor on cases of people with albinism to ensure the state secures convictions for attackers of people with disability.

Mdala, however, said Chatha’s alleged accomplices are yet to be arrested.

Mokoshoni was abducted from the house of his mother Edna Cedrick on February 26, raising fears that the hunt for people with albinism is still going on.

Bravo Police for arresting this murderer suspect. Let the suspect declare his innocence in the court of law. But if he is found guilty, do no treat him with kids gloves he must face stiff punishment. Just imagine, killing his own nephew? He is not the kind of person to be kept in the society. It our hope that many accomplices regarding to this gruesome murder incident will be also netted.

Positive step.
What about those who murdered a student at NRC? Who knows this student was going to be a very productive citizen of this nation but his life was prematurely terminated by these savages who have never been to school at all.

Just a tip and you rush to arrest and charge someone? Poor police. I thought a tip was meant to help your investigations? It is not evidence on it’s own
