Malawi Police says dealing with lapse in security

The Malawi Police Service (MPS) has assured the general public that it  is delaing with lapse in security  and has deployed all means necessary to ensure that there is security in the country.

Police spokesman James Kadadzera: Assures of security

The assurance comes amidst a number of killings taking place in the country the latest incidents being those which took place in Nkhata Bay where a man was beheaded in his house; another involving a family of a head teacher who was found together with his wife and daughter beheaded in the forest in Lilongwe and a Bicycle Taxi Operator in Balaka District.

In an interview, National Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) James Kadadzela said the police are working around the clock to ensure that such killings come to a halt and that maximum security in the country is maintained.

“People in the country should not panic; as you know most of these suspects have been arrested. For example, suspects of the murders in Lilongwe and Nkhata Bay have been arrested,” he said.

According to Kadadzela, this has been made possible because the police have been using the Criminal Investigative Department (CID) as well as tips from the general public.

He said incidents like these should not make citizens think that there is insecurity in the country.

“Security in the country is good and incidents like these do not mean that there is deteriorating security. As you know, criminal acts happen on a daily basis and that is why the police are there to control the situation,” he said.

Asked whether the beheading murders are organized by some people, Kadadzela said it is too early to say so since investigations are underway.

Meanwhile, the police have appealed to the general public to report any suspected criminals to police in order to assist them enforce order in the country.

Kadadzera this is nonsense! where on earth can you assure people that should not panic whilst there is derailing of security. Most of your officers are busy drinking sachets beer. Which assurance can you guarantee? And unfortunate part is that some of the perpetrators are your own offers. Find another excuse.
