Malawi President treats vendors to early Xmas luncheon at Sanjika

President Mrs. Joyce Banda on Sunday treated to a  luncheon thousand of vendors and other members of various youth arms of the ruling party at Sanjika Palace in Blantyre.

Speaking during the luncheon President Banda assured the youth that they are not the leaders of tomorrow but today.

“When we say the youth are the leaders of tomorrow, then when will tomorrow come,” queried President Banda.

Banda said this is why her government has increased the number of young people in government and other decision making positions.

President Banda however appealed to the youth to be patriotic to their country and work hard in their businesses.

The President also took the opportunity to counsel the youth on the need to have proper and decent families.

“Some of you have young families, I therefore urge you to treat each other well,” advised President Banda.

“I therefore appeal to you young men to treat your wives very well and you young wives submit to your husbands. Take my example,” said President Banda

The president said despite taking the high office she still respects her husband, retired Chief Justice Richard Banda.

During the luncheon the representatives of the youth and the vendors took the opportunity to express the challenges they are facing among them the high interest rates they get from bank loans.
