Malawi Queens lose 5th spot toSouth Africa: Australia retain Netball World Cup
Malawi Queens ended their Netball World Cup in Sydney on a low when they lost narrowly 46-48 to eternal rivals South Africa for a fifth spot play-off.
Australia overcame rivals New Zealand 58-55 to win their 11th title.
England beat Jamaica 66-44 to take bronze .
Wales ended the competition in seventh after winning their play-off 64-41 against Uganda to claim their best finish at a World Cup since 1991 – when it was also hosted in Sydney.
Trinidad and Tobago ended ninth after beating Samoa 64-51.
Scotland ended the tournament 12th after losing their 11th-place play-off 51-41 against Fiji.
Meanwhile Barbados ended 13th with a 53-38 win over Zambia and Sri Lanka finished last after losing 59-32 to Singapore.

Sorry queens, you have done your best but not all days are sundays. The one point you need to is you have the team that can win but you need to correct a few in-house concerns. A house divided cant stand. Check out at the management level to ensure complete player motivation.

I salute the Queens. These guys carry the true Malawian spirit that existed during Kamuzu’s time. With little resources, poor training facilities that are nothing compared to top eight, the Queens conquered. If the Queens had the attention accorded to the Flames they could take position 1 or 2. Our today’s Malawi has little space where achievers can thrive. We are a society that thrives on mediocrity and as we know mediocrity is anti progress.
