Malawi Queens opener with Zimbabwe as six nations to battle it out in Uganda

Six African countries are to battle it out in the Ugandan capital,Kampala in without defending champions, South Africa from June 24, 2017 in the African Netball championship.

The six are the hosts Uganda Botswana, Malawi, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe and games will be played at Lugogo MTN arena.

The host will open the champions with Botswana on Saturday from 4pm and the opening ceremony will be at 2pm.

Malawi Queen’s fearless rivals South Africa are not participating in this year’s tournament and it might face another challenge from the host Uganda or Zambia.

Assistant Coach for the Queens, Samuel Kanyenda said from Kampala Monday that Malawi would like to play against Africa’s andworld best.

“We don’t want to claim to be the best by avoiding the best teams in the continent. We would have loved to have South Africa in the competition to prove our mantle” he said.

He disclosed Manchester Thunder export, Joyce Mvula is expected to join the team in Kampala on June 21, 2017 in order to beef up the squad.

“Mvula is travelling to Malawi from United Kingdom (UK) today. She will join us on Wednesday evening,” Kanyenda disclosed.

Malawi Queens arrived in Uganda Sunday evening and they have started training on Mondayafternoon from 4pm.

The fixture is as follows:

June 24:  Uganda vs Botswana at 4pm

June 25:   Malawi vs Zimbabwe at 11 am

:  Uganda vs Namibia at 2 pm

: Botswana vs Zambia at 4 pm

June   26:  Malawi vs Uganda at 11am

:  Zimbabwe vs Botswana at 2 pm

: Namibia vs Zambia at 4 pm

June 27: Zambia vs Zimbabwe at 2 pm

: Malawi vs Namibia at 4 pm

June 28:  Botswana vs Namibia at 11 am

: Uganda vs Zimbabwe at 2 pm

: Zambia vs Malawi at 4 pm

June 29: Namibia vs Zimbabwe at 11 am

: Botswana vs Malawi at 2 pm

: Uganda vs Zambia at 4 pm

The closing ceremony for the tournament will start at 6 pm with medal presentations to winning teams and players.
