Malawi Queens pip Zimbabwe, cruise to semi-finals

Malawi Queens continued where they stopped on Wednesday by hammering Zimbabwe in the Africa Netball Championship to book their slot in the semi-finals on the tournament.

The Queens, who will face Botswana in the semi-finals, won convinsingly by 55 baskets to 22.

Malawi netball tactician Griffin ‘Zagalo’ Saenda was satisfied with the results and vows to fight on until they are crowned this year’s champions.

“We mean real business now up to the end of the tournament. I must commend each and every player because they put up a gallant fight in our victory,” said Saenda.

He however, admitted that their next match against Botswana will tough because they have experienced and towering players.

“We will have a good game against Botswana but l can assure all Malawians that at the end of the game we will become victors,” said Saenda.

Malawi, the number one netball team in Africa vows to set all their opponents on fire before their departure for Tanzania.

Players like Beatrice-Kadango-Mpinganjira, Caroline ‘Ayuda’ Mtukule, Towera ‘Tobe’ Vinkhumbo, and Bridget ‘Engine room’ Kumwenda, Sindi ‘Sniper’ Simutowe, Grace ‘Pincord’ Mwafulirwa, Joanna Kachilika, Thandiwe Magaleta, and Tina Kamzati vowed to bring the trophy to the ‘Warm Heart of Africa.’

Meanwhile, Australia-based shooter Mwayi Kumwenda says she is pleased with the results being posted by Malawi Queens at the tournament.

She said the current form of the Malawi Queens has inspired her and wishes her team mates to do well in Tanzania.
