President Banda has already made a number of changes at State House  since she was sworn in as Head of State on April 7.

She has also brought in Clara Mary Makungwa as Presidential aide on Women Affairs.

Nyasa Timesunderstands that Rev Mtonga will this time serve as presidential aide on special duties.

Rev Mtonga: Presidential aide

“The President has hired Rev Malani Mtonga as special assistant on special duties, “an official at Office of President and Cabinet told Nyasa Times.

Mtonga is chairman of the Church Foundation for Integrity and Democracy (CFID) and also a religious director in the ruling People’s Party.

He has been organising prayer meetings to seek divine intervention that the late president who was widely criticised for being autocratic should “see and hear” the evils which were occurring in the country under his DPP rule.

He angered late Mutharika when the media quoted him as saying that Christian priests had been called to exorcise the “evil spirits” at 300-room official residence in Lilongwe because it is haunted.
