Malawi skipper Mponda wants Bullets return
Crocked Malawi national team captain Peter Mponda says he is contemplating of rejoining Big Bullets FC where he made his name before he moved to South Africa.
Mponda who has been released by South African side Santos after being struck by a series of injuries during his two-year stay in Cape Town, told Nyasa Times that he would welcome another stint at Bullets.
The legendary defender said he wants to end his career at Bullets but is still waiting for talks to open over his future.
“I would like to end my career at Bullets. I feel I can play for a good few more years,” said Mponda.
Mponda said he is also open for a move to Escom United where he also had a short stint.
“I want to keep myself as fit as possible and be ready to play at top level again,” said Mponda.
Bullets coach Edingtoon Ng’onamo said he would give Mponda a chance to help the People’s team, but warned fans not to expect the Mponda of 10 years ago if the defender rejoins the club .
“Bullets would be open to welcome back Mponda. He still has class and quality,” said Ng’onamo.
Bullets gaffer said Mponda’s desire to rejoin Bullets and help out again is “very possive development.”
Meanwhile, SureStream Academy in Blantyre has appointed Mponda their ambassador.
Mponda said he is “ excited” to be involved in the SureStream Academy.
