Malawi teen boy arrested for raping granny on New Year’s eve

An 18-year old boy has been arrested in Malawi’s eastern district of Balaka for allegedly raping a 69 year old granny.GRANNY'S RAPE

The suspect Chifundo Chausa defiled the victim at her home during the New Year’s Eve (31st December).

Balaka police spokesperson sub-inspector Joseph Sauka says the victim who is a widow told the police that the suspect was armed with panga knife and threatened to kill her if she did not take his orders.

“The victim said she cried for help but no one came to her rescue because she lives alone and her house is at an isolated place and she was finally raped,” said Sauka.

Soon after the incident, the victim reported the matter to the Village head who in turn mobilised young men who nabbed the suspect who admitted to have sexually assulated the victim because of the influence of alcohol.

Medical examination done at Balaka District Hospital revealed that the victim was really raped.

Meanwhile the suspect is in Police custody and is expected to appear before court where he will answer a case of rape which is contrary to section 132 of the Penal Code and Police is appealing to the youth to desist from indulging in the behaviour that can doom their future.

Chifundo Chausa comes from Kambadi village Senior Chief Msamala in Balaka district.

  6. this woman should ‘suspend’ her rights because the Judiciary is ‘fighting’ for its rights. Until the Judiciary is ‘fetted’ with salary increments, all everyone will have to suspend their rights. Some people are more human than others.
