Malawi to host World Council of Churches conference

Malawi will this year host the World Council of Churches (WCC) seven day long international conference on the relationship between churches and specialised ministries.

According to Malawi Council of Churches (MCC) General Secretary Osborne Joda-Mbwewe, the conference will take place from September 4-10 at Sunbird Nkopola Lodge in Mangochi.

“Specialised ministries or Ecumenical agencies are specialiced diaconal or sectoral ministries within WCC member churches, organizations and church related organizations or mission organizations working in the area of development, relief, mission
answer advocacy,” said Joda-Mbewe.

Added Joda-Mbewe, “The idea is to have our international delegates interface with the local congregation in areas where WCC through ACT-Alliance Malawi Forum has projects benefiting Malawian communities.”

During the conference, there will be different presentations such as, Our common journey and calling-sharing our gift on the pilgrimage of justice and peace by Associate Secretary for Public Witness and Diakonia at WCCC Dr Isabel Apawo Phiri and ‘Middle East experience by Ramzi Zananini of the International Christian Committee in Jerusalem among others.

The conference national coordinating committee is led by MCC and Act Alliance-Malawi Forum.

A total of 100 international delegates drawn from around the world are expected to attend.
