Malawi’s top referees Dennis Nguluwe, Patrick Ngoleka and Mercy Mziya have been stripped of their badges by the world football governing body Fifa and have been replaced by other new whistle-blowers.

The referees were stripped of their badges  following their lapses in performance as regards behaviour, competence in officiation of games and fitness levels, Football  Association of Malawi (FAM) general secretary Alfred Gunda confirmed.

FAM secretary general said  it is Fifa obligation to have refrees assessed every year .

“As a progressive career,  we must also appreciate  that there will be up-and-coming referees who will be pushing their way into the list from time to time,” said Gunda.

Gunda said apart from Ngulube, Ngoleja and Mziya,  another one stripped of the Fifa badge is assistant referees Hendrix Maseko and Feston Kusekuse.

They have been replaced by Gift Chiko, Godfrey Nkhakanaga and Rose Zimba while Gabriel Mafuleka and Joseph Nyauti have taken the slots of the chopped  assistant referees.

Chiko was the centre referee for the Fisd Challenge Cup final involving eventual winners Be Forward Wanderers and Silver Strikers at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
