Malawi U-20 beat South Africa in strength testing match
Malawi Under 20 side beat South Africa 1-0 at Nike Football Training Centre in Pimville, Soweto on Saturday in a strength testing match
Malawi was using this match to prepare for their U20 World Youth Championships preliminary second leg qualifier against Botswana next weekend.
The first leg ended in a 1-1 draw in Malawi.
The Junior Flames scored their goal in the 11th minute through Silver Strikers netbuster Chawanangwa Kawonga.
Before leaving for South Africa on Friday, coach Ernest Mtawali was optimistic to upset the tables in Botswana.
Mtawali said the inclusion of some Super League players like Kawonga and Dalitso Sailesi was a big boost to his squad.
“Their experience will play a greater role in Botswana and l have no doubt that we will come with good results,” said Mtawali.
