On arrival in Malawi, players based in Blantyre were dropped off at Shoprite Shopping Complex by the Football Association of Malawi’s new state-of-art team coach, to the dismay of onlookers and shoppers.

Some weary players, carrying excess and bulky lugagge like electric fans, were seen crossing the roads to bus points as far as Soche road to catch public transport or hitch hike to their respective homes.

“We are not given transport to our respective homes. We are just dropped off at one designated point and that’s it,” said one of the players.

Onlookers and shoppers at Shoprite Shopping Complex were unimpressed.

” Win or lose, that’s not a way to treat anyone doing national duty. The least you can do is drop them in their homes. Arrange local transport or drop them at a central point in their resppective townships,” said Stanslas Mphaka of Chilobwe.
