Malawi voter registration kit found in Mozambique
A biometric machine being used in the ongoing voter registration exercise for the May 21 2019 elections has been found on a train coming from Mozambique, Malawi police spokesman has confimed.
According to police spokesman James Kadadzera, Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) reported to law enforcers that the biometric voter registration his kat been found on a train coming from Mozambique. The train belongs to Vale Logistics.
“We are investigating the matter. We want to establish what really happened” he said.
The kit comprises a laptop, which stores a voter data, a finger print scanner and a camera.
Spokesman for the electoral body, Sangwani Mwafulirwa said the kit went missing in transit from Lilongwe to Mwanza.
He said MEC were “surprised” to be informed that the kit had been found in Mozabique on a train.
However, he assured that no important data was lost
Opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and People’s Party (PP) said the development confirms their fears of possible rigging of votes next year.
MCP director of strategy Ken Zikhale N’goma and PP’s Ibrahim Matola asked police toinvestigate thoroughly on the matter.
Seriously???? How can MEC be so negligent abale inu?? This is just unbelievable! All MEC officers including Jane Ansah must be FIRED WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT! This is serious ! Voter registration must be revisited if the election is going to be credible! Oh Malawi my Malawi!

Jane Ansah and ALL MEC officers must be fired, dissolve MEC, voter registration must be halted because it has been seriously compromised there is no way voter registration can continue!!!!! We need a new MEC and voter registration must start all over again if the election is to be credible.

Malawians please remember that every time Jane Ansah had press briefing she has been telling us that the figures recorded were not final. Especially those from the Lomwe Belt. She knew in advance that additional figures will be coming later from somwhere, where only herself know.
Gross incompetence, and serious mismanagement by Jane Ansah and her MEC officers, they all need to resign and voter registration should be nullified and voided

Voter registration exercise has been seriously compromised and should be declared null and void. There is too much at stake ! How can this even happen The whole process should be scrutinized meticulously by an independent entty before voter registration can start all over againI think the election date should be extended if it is going to be legit.

The rigging has already occurred. Investigations won’t reveal anything in that laptop. The crooked data that was input in Mozambique has already found its way into the MEC database through internet connection, you fools. Mozambiquans won’t even need to come to vote. Cadets will vote on “their’ behalf using ” their ” voting certificates. You get the drift?

In the first place did MEC report to any law enforcement agency tht this very important kit went missing or stolen the time it was intransit from Lilongwe to Mwanza? Did the officers in possession of the kit at tht particular time interrogated on the missing of this? This just really shows how untrusted our MEC is. We never heard anything that this went missing only to hear it has been found. How can u find something which was not missing or stolen?

Do not trust police investigation this is another crooked governvement department. Let all the concerned parties sit down and map the way forward forensic investigation must take place to see if indeed other names have not been added. This might be a trick by either DPP or another opposition party which has another crook in rigging.

Incomprehensible is how I can describe this whole development . Can’t figure out where in the world where there is a functioning government where such a thing would happen. In Malawi, anything is possible even the unimaginable and when all is said and done life goes on. No one takes responsibility and no one demands answers when the unthinkable heppens. You can do anything, say anything, steal anything , take anything, violate anything and anyone . Nobody cares and nobody is held responsible and accountable and nobody asks questions or demand answers. I have had a blessing of visiting some countries both within and without Africa and when a development of this nature and sensitivity occurs everyone demands answers from everyone . i.e. President demanding answers from those concerned , citizenry demanding answers from president , civil society, the media, the international community and churches demanding answers from those concerned including in this case MEC and government and president in particular. We are surely a nation that has lost it all. That’s what defines Malawi I have come to know of late.

Very sad development indeed, claiming there is no data lost my foot, thats not our worries, our worries is registering Mozambiquan. This is cruelty at best. MEC must explain how the machine went missing? Why didn’t they reported to police for recovery? How possible the machine found in the train alone? This is calculated move. And Jane Anser can not be trusted considering the dating photo seen on the social media with one of DDP senior.
