Malawi Womens Football team up 12 places on Fifa ranking
The Malawi National Senior Womens Football Team has risen twelve places up from 124 to 112 on the latest Fifa Ranking.
This is according to the latest Fifa Ranking released on Friday 24th March 2017.
Germany is on first position, USA on second while France, England and Canada are on third, fourth and fifth respectively.
Nigeria is Africa’s highly ranked team on the world ranking as they occupy position 34 followed by Ghana on 45 while Cameroon, Equetorial Guinea and South Africa are ranked positions 47, 50 and 51 respectively.
The on and off Malawi team could have been ranked on a better position and even break into two digit section if it was active enough.
Malawi’s last assignment was a Fifa sanctioned international friendly match they played against the Shipolopolo’s of Zambia who are on position 101 the world.
The game was played at the Nankhaka Stadium in Lilongwe December last year and unfortunately, Malawi lost 3-2.
The Chawinga sisters Temwa and Sweden based Tabitha scored for the Malawi ladies team while Nelia Sosola and Babra Banda who scored a brace were on target for the visitors.
According to the latest Fifa Ranking, in Africa Malawi seats on position 22.
