Malawian found dead in SA hotel, another killed
Malawian national who had gone missing had been found dead in a hotel room with a suicide note believed to have been written by him.
Eric Thindwa of Rumphi went missing in the first week of August and an alert was sent out to fellow Malawians in South Africa by a member of their community.
“The Thindwa family [is] appealing to all Malawians with information leading to Eric Thindwa’s whereabouts,” the alert said. “Eric was last seen early hours of Saturday, 30 July in the Southern Suburbs of Rosettenville. The family has so far checked with hospitals and reported to the South African Police services.”
But Thindwa was found in a hotel room dead on Thursday August 4 with a suicide note purportedly written by him.
He is reportedly to have checked into a hotel after saying he was too intoxicated to drive home.
Reports also indicate that another Malawian resident in Johannesburg was shot and killed this week by robbers after walking into a pub that had been held up.
They ordered the patrons to lie on the floor and shoot the Malawian while friends who were with the victim weren’t harmed.
