Malawian girl to contest in Miss Africa USA beauty pageant

A Malawian girl Hanna Thauzeni is Saturday expected to contest in the Miss Africa USA beauty pageant.

Thauzeni, who comes from Blantyre,  representing Malawi says her goals are to help the orphans and needy kids if she wins the beauty pageant.

The Malawian says she chose the platform because she also grew up as an orphan and that it breaks her heart to see kids suffering.

An appeal has therefore been made to Malawians to support the girl’s cause.

The occasion which is expected to be held at the Fillmore Theater in Silver Spring, MD, will be graced by the African female king, King Peggy from Ghana who resides in Maryland.

She will be joined by several distinguished women leaders, African Diplomats from Washington DC and the United Nations, representatives from the Governor’s Office in Maryland and other VIPs, fans, supporters and friends of Miss Africa USA Pageant.

According to the pageant’s website, the Miss Africa USA Pageant is driven by the potential and capacity of the empowered African woman who is ready to take on responsibilities and focused on changing the world around her.

“Each year the pageant brings young women together to represent their countries and share their cultures with the rest of the world, celebrate the power of the African woman and foster sisterhood”.

Among others the pageant helps the delegates to build self-esteem and confidence in young African women growing up in a diverse culture, enhance skills in community development and empowerment through humanitarian service and also become the voice of the voiceless and share issues of concern.
