Malawian man kills granny, rapes the ‘dead body’: Jailed
In what could be described as the worst form of rape, a 22-year-old man has been thrown in jail to serve 14 years for murdering his own grandmother before raping her.
Besides serving his 14 years, the convict will also be waiting for the murder charge which has been referred to the Malawi High Court.
Kennedy Mugala from Ishikira Village, Senior Chief Mwaulambia in Northern Region district of Chitipa is said to have murdered and raped her biological 75-year-old granny, Ayilesi Nyakayange.
According to police, on the day of the incident, the convict is reported to have gone on a drinking binge with friends at a nearby drinking joint.
After taking too many cheap sachets of beer he started staggering home and along the way he met his granny and picked a quarrel with her for some unknown reasons.
Minutes later, Mugala is alleged to have picked pieces of bricks and started hitting the old woman in the head until she started breeding profusely.
Seeing the granny battling with her final life, the young man took advantage of the situation and forced his organ on his lifeless granny.
The grandmother died later due to severe loss of blood.
Appearing before the Chitipa First Grade Magistrate, Rabson Gamaliele this week, the young man easily confessed having killed and raped her granny.
Gamaliele then slapped him with 14 years imprisonment with hard labour while referring his murder charge to the High Court.
The First Grade Magistrate said rape case attracts a maximum period of life imprisonment but he decided to give Mugala 14 years only because he did not waste the court’s time by readily admitting his offence.
