Malawian music legend Giddes Chalamanda to live the American dream
Malawian legendary local musician Giddes Chalamanda will live the American dream.
The octogenarian of the Line song fame will realise his dream courtesy of his managers Edger Kachere and Davis Njobvu who have facilitated the Chiradzulu born and bred musician to visit United States.
Njobvu disclosed that Chalamanda aged 84 would visit and perform in US.
He said well wishers had offered to sponsor Malawi’s oldest acoustic musician.
But he did not give details regarding when they leave to visit and perform in the US.
“I am glad to announce that I and Davis will manage to fulfill his dream of visiting America. As he had sung in Buffalo soldier,” Njobvu said.
“In the song he made an appeal that if he had enough money he would go to America.”
He hailed the musician of taking good care of himself to still be strong.
“Giddes is still strong and gives his all when performing on stage.
“Off course at his age he cannot be as energetic as when he was young. Sometimes we fear that he might collapse while performing but he has remained strong,” he said.
Edgar ndi Davis as the duo is popularly known engaged Chalamanda as their promoter by performing together.
Through Edgar and Davis, Chalamanda has benefited from the partnership.
