Malawian preacher thinks he’s God: Overtone Makuta compared to cult leader
Overtone Makuta says is no ordinary preacher like the ‘men of God’ who claim to have a speed dial to God and claim to have healing powers and the ability to convey messages directly from God , saying he is the Almighty himself and his followers are praying to him and calling him their creator.
Makuta has been holding his miracle evangelism throughut Malawi and is also gaining ground in Tanzania and Mozambique.
As most Chritian preachers are proclaiming salvation in the afterlife, ‘Creator’ Makuta evangelism is not different from so called ‘prophets’ ‘pastors’, ‘apostles’ sometimes even ‘prophetesses’ about instant babies, instant wealth, and instant husbands and wives.
A video clip which is circulation on social media like fire in the dry bush shows Makuta followers laying out clothes on the road for him to walk on.
Another video shows a member of Makuta’s churches praying to him and referring to the man as ‘God’ and creator.
“You also came initially as a Jewish and people mocked you. You have come again and people are still doubting saying you are a human being. Repeating the same mistake made by others in the past,” a church elder says in the video clip
He adds that following ‘God’ Makuta’s coming the destruction of the earth is near and the people who are following him are blessed.
But religious leaders and Chrzistians compare Makuta to a cult leader.
Makuta is not new to the ‘God’ claims in Malawi as in 2018 a self-styled Jesus Christ the ‘son of God’, Saidi Pius from Maso Village in Traditional Authority Chowe in Mangochi District emerged and was rescused by police after the public wanted to attack him for “blasphemous”.
After police questioned him, they suspected he was mentally unstable, a condition his brother, Witness Pius, confirmed when he was later summoned to the police.
In 2006, one Raphael Matiki made headlines with similar claims in Blantyre’s Chilomoni Township which angered the residents. They evicted him from the township.
‘Jesus’ Matiki as he was popularly known, fled to Machinjiri with his four wives and ‘disciples’ where he was also descended upon for the same claims by angry residents.
He was also rescued by police who took him to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital for medical examination but he discharged himself saying, as Jesus, he needed no mortal treatment.
Matiki had disciples with the names of their biblical predecessors like ‘Simon Peter’.
Unlike the original Jesus of Nazareth, some of his disciples were women and he claimed this time around salvation will come through a woman.
Followers of modern preachers are easily impressed by the flashy cars, jets and tramped up security. The list of such ‘men of God’ is growing every day.
They pounce on the emotionally frail, financially challenged or physically sick; desperate people searching for some sort of miracle answer to their suffering.
Ironically, when someone stands up to them, their response is always the same; “It’s the devil’s work.”

In my opinion all negative comments are emanating from people that are fond of hiding their identities in whose selfish motives, they would like to discredit the truth under pretext of false quotations, they do not even understand . Spiritual things are discerned spiritually. God is so simple that, only the simple can easily believe them. All religious people have in the past missed God in flesh and since spirits do not die hence the repeat. It could be better if we learnt a lesson from being haunted by the past mistakes perpetrated by our friends, the Jews. We should not look down upon ourselves because we are black, Elohim has finally remembered Eden and the original colour. God is Alpha and Omega. He is Adam and Overtone. Elohim who indwelt Overtone has made Him both Lord and Christ. He has come to redeem Adam’s fallen race. The falling of human race happened in Eden which is Africa and so should redemption happen in Africa. This is the only Lord who holds the key to redemption of the human race. Jesus was referred to as a Cornerstone of the foundation and Overtone is the Headstone that caps the whole building even New Jerusalem. Lord Overtone Christ has it all and confirmed every thing with signs and wonder. He has made saints from the sinners, has instantly transformed people tired and rejected by Churches. There is nothing as difficult situation in the court of the Lord Overtone Christ who has exuded authority over all nature.
People are fond of worshiping the unknown God, that can not speak, nor reprove their wrong doings. They are always happy with the status quo because they would like to hide under churches in whose tendencies are discrediting the true God. I refer you to what happened to Jesus who could not be accepted by all religious groupings, be it the Sadducees, Pharisees, Herodian or name them. The lay men and those considered outcasts easily believed Him. Likewise, those of us that could not find a place in the churches easily believe Lord Overtone Christ. I do not blame you, I just pray that you see what I see and find favour before my LORD.

It has to be noted that there is freedom of worship in Malawi and every person is free to worship in the way s/he wants. If we may be judging one another’s religion, we will miss the gist. Let’s us all respect one another’s Faith and worship and avoid justifying our religion.
On the other hand, let me make it clear that God is manifested through man and He is worshipped as a man. All those people we brag to me men of God were or are human beings so to worship a man is correct worship for those who don’t know.
Taking you back to the beginning, God created man in his image and this means that God has a body that can be seen and this is true as Abaham met God washed the feet of God and gave God meat and milk which God ate. He chatted with God and God told him that He had come to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah a man. Sodom & Gomorrah was destroyed by God in flesh of man who led Lot by hand out of Sodom. Read Genesis 18. Jacob met God a man who preserved his life and changed him from being Jacob to Israel a man God. Joshua met God and he won all the battles. I am one of the people sane enough to tell a spiritual lie from truth. We are all worshipping men, some worshipped Jesus of the Jews because he was God indeed to the Jews.
