Malawi’s failure to create multiparty frame work derailing transformation -Ntata

Political commentator  Allan Ntata has disclosed that Malawi is failing to transform and  develop due to failure to create a frame work immediately after attaining multiparty democracy in early 90’s.

Ntata: Indeed Malawi needs transformative leader

Ntata’s observation comes few days after Malawi’s leading political movement called Transformation Alliance (T.A) hailed its first ever National Conference in the Commercial City of Blantyre.

“We did not create a multiparty frame work of multiparty democracy that is why we keep on voting for one dictator after the other. In 1994, we needed to write a constitution that other countries like Kenya, Rwanda etc have because that was the turning point of things in the country,” said Ntata.

He said the Malawi Constitution had so many grey areas hence the call for review by Malawi Law Commission with just three years after turning into a multiparty system of government.

“In 1997 Malawi Law Commission wanted to change the constitution and by 2007 a new constitution had already been drafted this simply shows that we had no frame work and we therefore need a transformation frame work,” said Ntata.

“In 1994 it was a collective responsibility that brought change in this country and this is the time to think of and demand for a kind of Malawi we all want but this can be done only if we first work on where we are,” Ntata said.

He warned that if nothing is done, Presidents will continue to take Malawians for granted and in the process derailling the transformation and develoment of Mother Malawi.
