“The attendant was scared and frightened with the request by the man to the effect that he called for a police officer from central investigations department (CID) to follow the matter, as the dead body had to undergo a postmortem,” he said.
Mtopela said currently the police are still looking for an appropriate charge against him, but up until they find an appropriate charge they are holding him for soliciting public officers to fail to carry out their duties.
“This is against section 125 subsection A of the penal code. It attracts a sentence of up to five years,” he said.
Phiri will appear before court soon, said Mtopela.
