Man sexually attacks neighbour’s daughter, 10-year-old
A 42 year old man is on full remand at Nkhotakota Prison on allegations that he defiled a 10 year old girl who is a neighbour’s daughter.
Nkhunga Police Station Public Relations Officer Sergeant Labani Makalani confirmed the development to Nyasa Times saying the incident happened at Dwangwa on 31st July 2012.
Makalani identified the suspect as Sailosi Wisiki of Chithiwi village in the area of Traditional Authority Kanyenda in the district.
“The suspect is reported to have coaxed the victim (name withheld) into his house and defiled her. Later that day the victim complained of incessant pain on her private parts and upon further inquiry revealed what Wisiki had done to her,” Makalani said.
He said communities within the area mobilized themselves and arrested the suspect before handing him over to the Police.
Last Friday Wisiki appeared before the Nkhunga Second Grade Magistrate Court on where he pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate Rex Nsolo has since transferred the case to Nkhotakota First Grade Magistrates Court following a judiciary directive that cases of defilement be handled by senior Courts from First Grade Magistrates and above.
