Man stabs ex-lover to death, on the run

Malawi Police in Ntcheu are hunting for a murder suspect who stabbed his ex-lover to death on Wednesday evening at Beni Tchauya village in Traditional Authority (T/A) Kwataine in the district.

Ntcheu police spokesperson, Hastings Chigalu identified the suspect on the run as Ndaipa Odala who was once in a love affair with Idesi Lyson, 19, now deceased.

He said the suspect terminated the love affair when Lyson got pregnant.

“Odala ended the love affair saying he was not the one responsible for the pregnancy,” said Chigalu.

Chigalu said last Wednesday, at around 18:00 Lyson went for a walk at Tchauya Primary School and that was where her ex-lover stabbed her.

“The suspect suddenly emerged with a knife and started stabbing Lyson until she was left unconscious. Odala immediately fled the scene and he is still on the run,” he said.

Chigalu said postmortem results conducted at Ntcheu District Hospital revealed that Lyson died due to severe loss of blood.

The deceased hailed from Beni Tchauya village, in the area of T/A Kwataine in the district.
