Manganya bails out Nsanje Hospital, donates drugs and cash
Social commentator and comedian Michael Manganya Usi on Christmas (Sunday December 25) cheered up patients at Nsanje District Hospital and donated assorted drugs worth about K3 million.
Apart from the drugs, Usi also donated assorted food stuffs and cash to sick and needy patients. He also took time to help clean hospital wards.
The donation of drugs came at a time the country’s hospitals are experiencing drug and medical supply shortage.
Speaking in an interview, Usi who is acting Country Director for Adventist Development Relief Agency (ADRA) Malawi bemoaned the situation at the hospital and called on the private sector and individuals to assist government in improving drug situation in the country.
“The situation in which the hospital is in is very pathetic. The infrastructure is dilapidating. This is not good situation for patients,” bemoaned Usi.
“There is a need for private sector and government to start focusing on the needs of people.”
Usi revealed that he has a consignment of drugs and medical supply to be distributed to all hospitals in Malawi.
He then ripped into the country’s political system, saying Malawi is not developing due to pride leaders.
“Politics is not helping us at all. Our leaders are running government with philosophies that are only theoretical and not practical.
“We need to be practical. If we say economy is improving that needs to be what is on the ground and not word of mouth. This politics of nonsense must stop,” he said.
Recently, Usi popularly known by his stage name ‘Manganya’ has been reported to harbour political ambitions.

Let’s get this straight is the Donation from Manganya Usi or ADRA.? Would some from Malawi union of SDA provide details. I do know. Usi called Manganya that he also comes from Mulanje. Abale this Manganya is assisting his own district and I do understand that he wants to join politics. My other concern is that ADRA is not allowed to give out cash for the sake of cashgate but it can assist medical supplies. ADRA Malawi. You may loose funding if you are not careful.
Hypocricy in Malawi at its best. Bushiri doesn’t get such positive comments after doing his charity. I’m waiting to hear from you the government though if they are going to say donations don’t follow proper channels. Otherwise I’m so impressed by the action Manganya has shown. We don’t need to wait for IMF OR WORLD BANK while we can do ourselves for the people without interest. Where are our richest kids of Malawi. Someone needs to explain to them about charity

Been watching TIKUFERANJI on YouTube and it’s very educative. .. he is trying to teach pipo thru Adra. . I love his sense of humour what malawi needs now is someone like him a person who has been in these situation and is wiling to change things.. malawi is the poorest country no wonder even Rwanda are taking advantage of us let alone Nigerians so sad… we need someone like president of Tanzania.. a no nonsense person… I wud vote for him surely…????????????
Good stuff
This is a good gift but spoiled by political sentiments. He says he has drugs to supply to all hospitals in Malawi thus good but he must realize that our problem is not supply? Yes, it is not supply. We have America, India and other organizations supplying drugs to Malawi (Central Medical Stores) but these drugs are not reaching their destinations. Our private pharmacies connive with staff members in stealing these drugs. Thus what needs to be focussed on.
