Emerging gospel songbird, Gloria Manong’a on Sunday defied the odds and put up impressive show at Mlambe Motel in Balaka district- which is usually shunned by popular gospel artists.

Backed by Monarchy Band, Manong’a’s gospel explosion show attracted impressive turnout that gave out support every artist would dream of; and for those artists who were listed as part of performers but chose to stay away, will surely live to regret it.

With support from Maggie Mangani, King James Phiri and Kiswell Mandala among others, it was an afternoon well spent for the Balaka fans that enjoyed every song the performing artists dished out.

The audience went into ecstasy when the master of ceremony announced the presence of social commentator, activist and comedian Michael Manganya Usi who was guest of honor.

Manganya who was accompanied by veteran musician, Overton Chimombo left the audience in stitches with his comical speech and dance.

“Manganya Savala jekete (Manganya does not put on jackets),” he said while removing his jacket to dance to once ofMang’anda’s songs to the glee of the audience.

Manganya pledged to support both Manong’a and Mangani and expressed his delight for the artists’ continued efforts in spreading the gospel through music.

“Let’s dance and enjoy, but we should enjoy in the name of the Lord for after this life, we all want to go to heaven,” said Manganya, getting applause from the audience.

He then took the audience by surprise when he offered education support to needy children, thus, after he was impressed by how one of the children at the show danced.

“These children are future leaders; we need to support them in every effort to attain education. This is why I am offering to support the needy children so that they can have better education,” he added.

During the show, Manong’a gave Manganya a gift of which the comedian decided to buy at K100,000.
