Mangochi ‘persona non grata’ vows not to return: Education ministry to relocate Muwake
Malawi Congress of Trade Union (MCTU) president Chauluka Muwake has vowed he would never work in the lakeshore district of Mangochi after his property removed from his official residence by irate community members.
Muwake, who is also primary education adviser (PEA) for Masongola Education Zone in Namwera, is of, among other things, allowing double shift learning which is making pupils fail to attend madras.

Mangochi is a predominantly Islamic district and most Muslim feel Muwake was undermining their religion.
“I am not going back for the sake of my life,” said Muwake who has dismissed the charges levelled against him.
Speaking in an interview from undisclosed location, Muwake said his family moved to Thyolo for safety.
He said he is waiting for the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology to relocate him.
Mangochi Police spokesperson Rodrick Maida said no-one has been arrested in connection with the incident, particularly the destruction of Muwake’s property but that officers “are still investigating the matter”.
