MASM introduces SMS system for checking membership validity
Medical Aid Society of Malawi (MASM) clients will now be easily knowing the status of their medical schemes following the society’s new Short Message Service (SMS) innovation that allows customers, through the use of their mobile phones, to keep abreast with all account transactions.
MASM Operations Manager, Dorika Chirwa said the new text message system will enable MASM customers know which hospitals to access medical treatment through the scheme.
She further said service providers such as hospitals and clinics will have access to update list of paid-up members prior to providing medical services hence reducing inconveniences.
“At first, we used to provide log books indicating all paid-up scheme members to service providers which sometimes, inconvenienced them and the client as some would be omitted.
“However, the new system will ensure that the information is saved electronically and updated from time to time,” said Chirwa.
According to Chirwa, the newly introduced service will not impinge on MASM operations but rather promote efficient and effective service delivery.
The SMS MASM initiative will be accessed through all mobile and ground phone service providers with Airtel Malawi customers accessing the service for free.
